If you’re still sleeping on the overnight oat trend, wake up! Not only are overnight oats the perfect make-ahead breakfast, but they are packed with protein, carbs, and fats to keep you full until lunch. Just store your oats in a mason jar or airtight container in the fridge overnight, and wake up to breakfast already made for you!
Since this is probably my breakfast almost every morning, I had to share how I make them! Below are ingredients that I almost always fill my jars with. Depending on what I’m in the mood for, I’ll heat my jar in the microwave for 1-2 minutes before eating.
You can use this recipe as a basic template to making your own overnight oats. Feel free to get creative and make them your own unique creation! Let me know any flavor combos you want to see me try out next 🙂

Basic Overnight Oats
Ingredients:

1 mason jar or container
1/2 cup rolled oats
1 tbsp ground flaxseed (a trick I learned to make them thicker)
1 tsp maca powder (I’m recently loving adding this to oats or smoothies. It’s known for boosting energy levels!)
your favorite spices (I used apple pie spice and ground turmeric. I never measure these out!)
1/2 cup of plant milk (or less depending on if you like thicker oats)
Optional: fresh or dried fruit, protein powder
Instructions:

1. Add all dry ingredients to your mason jar or container.
2. Mix with a spoon before adding your wet ingredients like milk and fruit.
3. Stir the wet ingredients well and seal the lid of your mason jar or container.
4. Refrigerate overnight or up to four hours. Top with more fruit, yogurt, nut butter, etc. Enjoy cold or heat in the microwave for 1-2 minutes!
